Egg donation with a known donor

The law in Spain provides the anonymity of the donor as an indispensable requirement. In contrast, it is not the case in the United States (California or Florida, for example) or the United Kingdom. Take the case of a woman who wants her sister to be the donor (or some other known person).
I
n this case, the treatment could not be performed in Spain, because the anonymity requirement would not be fulfilled (they know each other: sisters, friends…). In contrast, it can be performed in the United Kingdom.
If the donor meets the legal requirements to be a donor in the United Kingdom (requirements), a basic study is done (baseline hormones and infectious diseases) and, later, the induction of the ovulation is performed. Once the eggs are retrieved, they are donated to the couple. It is noteworthy that under the regulations in the United Kingdom, the donor cannot receive any type of compensation (either economical or otherwise).
In the United Kingdom the donation must be an act of altruism. The embryos produced are for the couple and they cannot be claimed by the donor at any time (as in Spain). For the purpose of parentage, the child born is the son of the woman who carries him in her womb; therefore, there cannot be any type of problem in this regard.

It is also noteworthy that in Spain the parentage is determined by birth (according to the civil code, the mother is the woman who gives birth), and not by DNA testing. Thus, the donor can never claim any type of right or motherhood on the children born from their eggs.

This is a very interesting option for those women who need an egg donation but who do not want to do it with eggs from an anonymous donor but with the eggs donated by a relative or an acquaintance.

If you are interested in this treatment, it is possible to do it in my practice in London:
London Women’s Clinic.

Requirements to be a donor in the United Kingdom:

    - Be between 18 and 35 year-old
    - Negative serology for hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis
    - Sign the informed consent
